Dear Christian brothers and sisters in Christ,
You may have heard from the news about the current nationwide riots led by Buddhist monks in Burma. This is the biggestriot against the military regime in twenty years history. This riots was caused by the government's refusal to listen to the citizens' call for the political change. In recent months the fuel price went up 75% and all commodity price skyrocketed and as a result, people of the entire Burma have been experiencing the toughest hardship, and many died of hunger.
Since yesterday the armies began to shoot the peaceful demonstrators on the streets and five monks and other two citizens were killed instantly by the armies. It is expected to be worse and the country to be come chaos. Wide spread killing by government troops is expected. Therefore, please come in knees with us in petition to our heavenly Father for His intervention in Burma.
Since the demonstration began, all prices went up another high. For example the price of one kilogram of cooking gas had jumped up from 200 kyats to 20,000 kyats. One bag of rice from 40,000 to 90,000 to 100,000 kyats. This has caused our new Burmese Christians in Rangoon to experience the toughest difficulty to survive. Most of them can not affordto buy rice for their survival not to mention other necessities. So we want to ask our brothers and sisters in America to prayerfully consider to help these Christians at this time of trouble and hardship. This is an emergency. Any amount you can give will help your brothers and sisters in Christ in Rangoon to survive. Our evangelists are also facing the toughest hardship due to this unexpected situation. If you want to know what is going on in Burma please go to www.irrawaddy.org and read it for yourself. The Bible says, "Rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep." (Romans 12:15). So let us make petition to God for those who are weeping in Burma because of the unbearable situation.
Yours for His Kingdom,
Jerry and Boonporn Thaprom
